Four Bangladeshi expatriate brothers were found dead inside a car in Al-Masna’ah Governorate, reportedly due to carbon monoxide poisoning from the vehicle’s running exhaust, the Royal Oman Police confirmed, according to The Times of Oman.

The deceased, aged between 25 and 35, belonged to the same family and hailed from Bandarajarpara area, Ward No. 5, Lalanagar Union, Rangunia upazila in Chattogram, Bangladesh.

The brothers-Md Rashed, Md Shahed, Md Siraj, and Md Shahid, sons of Abdul Majid-had been working in Oman for several years.

Two of the brothers had been scheduled to return to Bangladesh on 15 May, and the family had gone out for shopping ahead of an upcoming celebration.

“One of the brothers had gone live on Facebook from inside the car, reporting that he felt seriously unwell. They reportedly attempted to drive to a nearby hospital but passed away before reaching help,” Yaseen Chowdhury said.

The Royal Oman Police has warned the public against operating vehicles in enclosed spaces or while sleeping to prevent the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.

The bodies are currently being held at a local hospital morgue, and arrangements are underway to repatriate them to Bangladesh as soon as possible.
