Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, who became a state witness in a case over crimes against humanity during the July Uprising, is scheduled to testify on Tuesday against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.
Mamun will testify in the case concerning crimes against humanity committed during the July uprising, involving former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.
The prosecution division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police confirmed that Mamun will appear via video link before the judicial panel led by International Crimes Tribunal-1 Chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Majumder.
Earlier on July 10, Mamun admitted his responsibility at the tribunal and expressed his willingness to serve as a witness voluntarily in Sheikh Hasina’s case.
So far, 35 witnesses have testified in the trial.
On July 10, the tribunal formally framed charges against Sheikh Hasina, Kamal, and Mamun, ordering the commencement of the trial. The prosecution has presented five charges of crimes against humanity, supported by 81 witnesses.
