Former Munshiganj-1 Member of Parliament Mohiuddin Ahmed died at a hospital in the capital on Tuesday evening. He was 75.
Mohiuddin Ahmed breathed his last at around 6:30 pm at United Hospital in Dhaka, according to family members.
He had been admitted to the hospital after falling ill.
Mohiuddin Ahmed served for many years as President of the Sirajdikhan Upazila unit of the Awami League and was also known as an organiser of the Liberation War.
He was elected Member of Parliament from the Munshiganj-1 constituency and earlier served three terms as upazila chairman and five terms as union parishad chairman.
He is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.
His namaz-e-janaza will be held at the field of Malkhangar School and College in Sirajdikhan, after which he will be laid to rest at the family graveyard in Kazirbagh.
Sirajdikhan Upazila Muktijoddha Sangsad Commander and District BNP Executive Committee Member Freedom Fighter Abdul Quddus Dhiron Balen said Mohiuddin Ahmed was widely respected and held a special place in the hearts of the people of Sirajdikhan.
