The Energy and Mineral Resources Division on Friday issued a formal clarification regarding recent media reports claiming a fresh 60-day US waiver for the import of Russian fuel.

In a press release on Friday, the division stated that no authorised official has provided any information, confirmation, or comment to any media outlet regarding such a waiver.

The ministry further clarified that it has not shared any information with journalists concerning a 60-day waiver period from 11 April 2026 to 9 June 2026, nor has it discussed any plans to import 10 lakh tonnes of diesel.

According to the division, there is no official information, update, or communication regarding any US waiver related to Russian fuel. Additionally, the ministry confirmed it has no knowledge of any proposal, decision, or arrangement to procure 10 lakh tonnes of diesel from Russia.

The division emphasised that any reports attributed to its officials are not based on authorised communication.

Muhammad Arif Sadeq, the public relations officer (DPIO) of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, signed the statement, noting that the publication of unverified and sensitive information could cause confusion regarding national energy policy and international engagement.
