Lahore Qalandars returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion on 3 April 2026, powered by a blistering innings from Parvez Hossain Emon and a crucial double strike from Mustafizur Rahman, as they defeated Multan Sultans by 20 runs in a rain-shortened Pakistan Super League encounter at Gaddafi Stadium.
Reduced to 13 overs per side due to rain, the match demanded urgency from the outset and Lahore delivered. After being sent in to bat, the Qalandars made a flying start through their opening pair of Mohammad Naeem and Emon.
While Naeem initially took the aggressive route, Emon soon found his rhythm and turned the innings on its head. He broke free in the fourth over, launching a six before taking on Mohammad Nawaz with consecutive maximums and a boundary. The real carnage came in the following over, where he dismantled Faisal Akram with three successive sixes, racing to 45 off just 19 balls, including five sixes and two fours.
Though he fell just short of a deserved half-century, Emon’s knock laid the platform for a massive total. Naeem ensured the momentum was not lost, compiling a fluent 60 from 28 deliveries as Lahore surged to 185 for 5 in their 13 overs.
In response, Multan Sultans were immediately placed under pressure by the steep required rate. Mustafizur Rahman struck a key blow in the sixth over, removing the in-form Sahibzada Farhan, who had scored a century in the previous match.
Shan Masood attempted to keep Multan in the contest with a counterattacking 44 from 18 balls, briefly putting Lahore’s bowlers under pressure. However, Mustafizur returned to dismiss him in his final over, a breakthrough that effectively ended the chase.
Although slightly expensive, conceding 37 runs in his three overs, Mustafizur’s two wickets proved decisive. Multan eventually finished on 165 for 5, falling 20 runs short as Lahore sealed a much-needed victory.
