The Election Commission (EC) on Thursday began the sixth day of hearings on appeals filed against the decisions of returning officers regarding nomination paper scrutiny for the 13th National Parliamentary Election.

The hearing is taking place at the EC auditorium in the capital’s Agargaon and will continue until 5pm. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin is presiding over the proceedings, while other commissioners are also in attendance.

According to EC data, a total of 380 appeals have been heard in the last five days. Among them, 275 candidates have regained their candidacy, while two appeals were rejected.

The EC aims to dispose of 645 appeals by 18 January. The election is scheduled to be held on 12 February.
