EBL has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with icddr,b, one of the world’s leading health research institutions, to provide exclusive healthcare benefits to its employees and their families, the bank said in a press release. The agreement was formalised at EBL’s head office in Dhaka on Wednesday.
Under the deal, EBL staff, their spouses and dependants will gain access to services at icddr,b’s Executive Health Check Clinics in Mohakhali, Dhanmondi, Uttara and Mirpur, with the bank saying the arrangement is expected to particularly benefit employees’ ongoing healthcare needs by offering world-class diagnostic services at affordable rates.
icddr,b Diagnostic Services, which has operated since 1990, was the first facility in Bangladesh to secure ISO 15189 and ISO 15190 accreditations, a standard it continues to uphold across 177 distinct test parameters.
Dr Md Fazlul Kabir, Head of Clinical and Diagnostic Services at icddr,b, said EBL had been a committed partner in advancing social causes in Bangladesh, describing the initiative as a reciprocal gesture between the two organisations. The MOU sets out a structured framework for referrals to icddr,b’s internationally accredited diagnostic laboratories, ensuring reliable and accurate medical testing for EBL’s workforce.
Rahat Afroze, Head of Human Resources at EBL, said the partnership reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to employee wellbeing and underscored its dedication to fostering a healthy and productive workplace.
Senior officials from both organisations attended the signing ceremony. Representing icddr,b were Armana Ahmed, Head of Fund Development Office; Md Shahriar Bin Elahi, Senior Manager, Business Intelligence and Analytics; and Laila Farzana, Development Coordinator, Fund Development Office. EBL was represented by Ziaul Karim, Head of Brand, Marketing and Communications, and Md Maskur Reza FCA, Head of Business Information Systems, among other officials.
