Abdus Salam, chief coordinator of the Election Steering Committee, has instructed the party’s polling agents for the Dhaka-17 constituency to each become a Tarique Rahman to oversee vote casting and vote counting.
He said, “The fruits of the hard work that the party’s leaders and workers have put in over the long election campaign must be brought home.”
Abdus Salam said these things at a training programme for BNP’s polling agents for the Dhaka-17 constituency on Thursday afternoon. Several hundred polling agents participated in this training.
He said, “Everyone must remember that BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman himself is contesting in this constituency’s election.”
Pointing out that laxity in monitoring vote casting and counting can ruin all the hard work, he said, “If polling agents need to go outside urgently, they must leave someone behind. So that no one can cast a fake vote. For this, one must be cautious beforehand. Even before entering the polling center, one must know the detailed information of each voter by holding the voter list.”
The trainers told the agents that any irregularity must be protested immediately and measures taken to correct it. If necessary, votes must be recounted. No form should be signed without being fully assured on all matters.
