Actor Zahid Hasan turns 60 on 4 October, marking decades of success across theatre, television and cinema. Rising to fame in the 1990s, he has become one of Bangladesh’s most recognisable performers.
Originally from Sirajganj, Zahid moved to Dhaka in the late 1980s to pursue acting. His early years were challenging, involving theatre work, cleaning troupe rooms and living in a shared mess in Dhanmondi.
He recalls a roommate’s father encouraging him on his birthday in 1989, predicting that one day the whole country would celebrate the occasion. Zahid says he still remembers those words whenever he receives birthday wishes and media attention.
As he enters a new chapter of life, Zahid acknowledges his past mistakes and hopes to devote more time to helping others. Family remains central to his life, although he misses his daughter, who studies in London, and his son, who is preparing for higher education abroad.
The actor says his struggles have taught him patience, humility and the value of sharing, shaping both his life and career.
