Freida Parton, sister of country music icon Dolly Parton, has reached out to fans for prayers as Dolly navigates ongoing health challenges.
Last week, Dolly postponed her highly anticipated Las Vegas residency, explaining that she has been dealing with several medical issues. While she did not provide specific details, she shared that she wouldn’t be able to rehearse or prepare fully for the upcoming shows.
On Wednesday, Freida took to social media, urging fans to join her in keeping Dolly in their thoughts and prayers, “Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly. Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been led to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me.”
She continued, expressing confidence in her sister’s strength and the power of collective support, “She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!”
Despite her health setbacks, Dolly maintained a positive outlook regarding her postponed residency. She joked with fans that her doctor visits felt like a “100,000-mile check-up,” humorously noting it was not the usual trip to see her plastic surgeon.
She assured fans that she would continue working on many of her projects from Nashville while taking the necessary time to prepare for the shows.
“Don’t worry about me quittin’ the business,” she added. “God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet. But I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you.”
This year has been particularly challenging for the Queen of Country. In March, she lost her husband of nearly six decades, Carl Thomas Dean, who passed away at 82. Following his death, Dolly made her first public appearance and later revealed that she had paused songwriting to process her grief.
In the months since Dean’s passing, Dolly shared that she was “doing better than I thought I would.” She also released a heartfelt single, ‘If You Hadn’t Been There’, honoring her late husband and reflecting on the profound role he played in shaping her life and career.
