Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) will launch special drives across the capital on Wednesday targeting illegal structures, unauthorised shops, footpath encroachments, and other irregularities.
The campaign, led by the DMP Traffic Division, will run until 5 April and will be conducted simultaneously across multiple zones of the capital.
Authorities have also carried out public announcements throughout the city to inform residents about the initiative.
According to the DMP, the drive will address roadside shops operating without authorisation, illegal parking, sales of vehicle parts on footpaths, and other violations.
The operation will cover key areas including Ramna, Lalbagh, Motijheel, Wari, Tejgaon, Mirpur, Uttara, and Gulshan.
Each zone will have a designated schedule, with operations starting at 10am and supervised directly by the respective traffic officials.
The DMP emphasised that the initiative aims to restore public order, ensure smooth traffic flow, and safeguard pedestrian rights.
The drive will be jointly conducted by the police and local administration, with ongoing public announcements to raise awareness and encourage cooperation from city residents.
