The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) division has filed 1,586 cases against traffic violators across the capital om Monday.

The action was part of a major enforcement drive targeting motorists who flouted traffic laws, a police press release said, officials confirmed on Tuesday in a press release.

According to the DMP, Traffic Ramna division filed 116 cases, including three buses, six covered vans, 21 CNGs and 41 motorcycles.

Traffic Lalbagh division registered 128 cases involving three buses, six trucks, two covered vans, 14 CNGs and 90 motorcycles.

Traffic Motijheel division filed 234 cases, with three buses, six trucks, 18 covered vans, 46 CNGs and 136 motorcycles among the vehicles cited.

Traffic Wari division recorded 87 cases, including six buses, 17 trucks, six covered vans, eight CNGs and 31 motorcycles.

Traffic Tejgaon division filed 186 cases, covering two buses, one truck, seven covered vans, 26 CNGs and 100 motorcycles.

Traffic Mirpur division led the tally with 530 cases, involving three buses, 11 trucks, 34 covered vans, 40 CNGs and 366 motorcycles.

Traffic Uttara division filed 174 cases, comprising four buses, five trucks, five covered vans, 27 CNGs and 71 motorcycles.

Traffic Gulshan division registered 131 cases, including two buses, one truck, six covered vans, one CNG and 62 motorcycles.

During the enforcement operation, the DMP also impounded 449 vehicles and towed 151 others, the press release added.
