Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has banned fireworks, lanterns, and explosives in Dhaka to ensure peaceful observance of the holy night of Shab‑e‑Barat.
A notice issued by DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali stated that authorities will forbid all types of fireworks, the bursting of crackers, the flying of lanterns and gas balloons, and the buying, selling, transporting, or using of any explosives within all DMP jurisdictions.
The restriction will be in force from 6pm on Tuesday, until 6am on Wednesday, according to the official notice.
DMP has called upon city residents to cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies, celebrating Shab-e-Barat in a peaceful manner that maintains public order and upholds the sanctity of the religious occasion.
