BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir warned that the independence of 1971, the foundation of the nation, is under threat by a certain group.
“The independence of 1971 defines our very existence, but a certain group is trying to push it aside” said Thakurgaon-1 BNP candidate Fakhrul on Tuesday.
He made the remarks at a BNP election rally in ward 6 of Thakurgaon municipality.
“1971 gave us a new country, a homeland, and countless opportunities to live, advance, and secure a better future for our children. This is crucial,” Fakhrul said.
He added, “Unfortunately, a group seeks to sideline 1971. If we lose 1971, we lose our existence. The events of 1971 are the core of our identity. We must move forward holding onto it.”
Fakhrul also criticised the manipulation of religion to mislead people and spread falsehoods, urging voters to remain aware of such tactics.
