National University (NU) has formally changed the names of four of its affiliated private colleges through an official notification issued on Tuesday.
NU College Inspector (In-Charge) Nazim Uddin Ahmed signed the notification, which states the university authorities took the decision with a directive from the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) under the Ministry of Education, dated 29 December, 2025.
As per the official directive, Pallabi Mohila Degree College in Mirpur, Dhaka, is now Shahid Zia Mohila College; Basail Degree College in Tangail becomes Basail Emdad Hamida College; Saleha-Imarat Degree College in Bagmara, Rajshahi, has been renamed Shankoa College; Fulgazi Mohila College in Feni is now Begum Khaleda Zia Mahila College.
The order will take effect immediately upon receiving approval from the NU Vice-Chancellor. It further instructs all departments and affiliated bodies under NU to implement this decision accordingly.
