Police have so far arrested nine people in connection with the attack and vandalism at Radda health centre in Mirpur, Dhaka.
Two trucks of looted goods from the facility have also been recovered, according to Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
According to allegations in the case statement, a group armed with hammers, sticks, and domestic weapons entered Radda MCH-FP Centre in Shah Ali Police Station area, around 12:05am on Friday.
The attackers scaled boundary wall to gain entry, assaulted two duty night guards and tied them up. They subsequently smashed the main gate using hammers and brought an excavator inside the premises.
Using the excavator, they demolished a structure measuring approximately 28 feet in length and 15 feet in width on the eastern side, causing an estimated damage of Tk3 lakh. They then vandalised another room used for family planning services along with its furniture, resulting in a loss of approximately Tk4 lakh according to police.
Moreover, a semi-pucca room measuring around 60 feet by 17 feet used by clinic in-charge, doctor, and deputy clinic in-charge was ransacked along with equipment and furniture, incurring an alleged loss of Tk20 lakh.
