The prestigious Dhallywood Film and Music Awards, an annual celebration of Bangladeshi cinema, music, television, and culture held in the United States since 2002, is set to mark its 25th anniversary in Dhaka for the first time.
The milestone Silver Jubilee edition will take place on January 9, 2026, at the Bangabandhu Bangladesh–China Friendship Exhibition Center in the capital.
Organized by Showtime Music and Play, the event has long served as a cultural bridge between Bangladesh and the Bangladeshi diaspora in the U.S., promoting the nation’s creative excellence on an international stage.
This year’s edition aims to honor that legacy at home, uniting the country’s most celebrated stars and rising talents under one roof. The title sponsor of the 2026 awards is Golden Age, and the event is powered by Utsab Group.
A press conference was held Sunday evening at a Gulshan club in Dhaka, where Showtime Music and Play CEO Alamgir Khan Alam and Vice President Shahin Kabir shared details about the grand celebration.
Among the attending artists were noted musicians Rabi Chowdhury, Shahnaz Belly, and Shouquat Ali Imon, who expressed their excitement about the event’s return to Bangladesh.
“This award took me to America for the first time,” said Rabi Chowdhury. “Over the years, many Bollywood and Bangladeshi superstars have performed there. I feel proud that this remarkable event will now be hosted in our own country.”
Composer Shouquat Ali Imon said, “This is the biggest Bangladeshi award show abroad, and I hope the Silver Jubilee in Dhaka will be even more spectacular.”
Reflecting on the journey, Alamgir Khan Alam described the upcoming event as “not just a ceremony but a celebration of pride, emotion, and unity, where the entire nation will honor the triumph of Bangladeshi film and culture.”
This year’s edition will recognize over 30 artists and creators for their outstanding contributions in 2025, bringing together legendary figures, contemporary innovators, and young cultural enthusiasts in one grand evening of performance and pride.
