The dengue situation in the country continues to deteriorate, with one death recorded in Khulna and 153 new patients hospitalised in the last 24 hours until 8am.
According to a press release from Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the highest number of new infections occurred in Chattogram with 69 cases, followed by Dhaka with 50 cases.
DGHS reports indicate that the infection rate reached record levels in July, during which 9,206 patients were hospitalised and 36 died. Between 1 January and 31 July this year, the total number of hospitalisations nationwide reached 15,310, with a total of 54 deaths.
In terms of regional impact, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has recorded the highest number of fatalities at 17.
Other deaths include eight in Khulna, seven in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), and six each in Barishal and Mymensingh. Regarding total infections, Barishal leads with 3,312 cases, followed by Chattogram with 2,651 and DSCC with 2,129.
Despite the surge, recovery rates remain at a satisfactory level.
In the last 24 hours, 154 patients were discharged from various hospitals. Of the total admissions this year, 14,089 patients have recovered and returned home.
Currently, 1,167 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals across the country, with 269 of them admitted to hospitals in the capital.
