Five more people died of dengue and 1,484 were hospitalised across the country in the 24 hours till Thursday, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest figures took the reported dengue cases this year to 58,400 and the death toll to 176.
The DGHS also reported 1,513 recoveries during the same period, raising the total number of patients discharged from hospitals since 1 January to 54,092.
Of the newly hospitalised patients, 941 were male and 543 female.
The 16-20 age group recorded the highest number of admissions, with 209 patients, followed by those aged 26-30 with 204 cases and 21-25 with 195.
Of the five deaths reported in the past 24 hours, three were women and two were men.
The deaths were reported among patients aged 21-25, 36-40, 41-45 and 76-80, according to DGHS data.
Although men account for a larger share of reported dengue infections this year, women account for a higher proportion of deaths. Males represent 62.5 per cent of all reported cases, while females account for 37.5 per cent.
However, women make up 52.6 per cent of the deaths, compared with 47.4 per cent among men.
Dhaka continues to account for a significant share of the country’s dengue cases and deaths.
Dhaka South City Corporation has reported 9,564 cases so far this year, the highest among the city corporations, followed by Dhaka North City Corporation with 8,298 cases.
Another 9,696 cases have been reported from areas of Dhaka Division outside the two city corporations, while Barishal Division has recorded 8,265 cases.
In terms of fatalities, Dhaka South City Corporation has reported the highest number, with 51 deaths. Dhaka North has recorded 32 deaths, while areas of Dhaka Division outside the city corporations have reported 23 deaths, according to the DGHS.
