Three more people died from the mosquito-borne disease while 363 new patients were admitted to hospitals across the country in the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The information was confirmed in a press release issued by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room under the DGHS on Thursday.
Of the newly hospitalised patients, 88 are from Barishal Division, 70 from Dhaka Division, 50 from Chattogram Division, 15 from Mymensingh Division (outside city corporations) while 56 from Dhaka North City Corporation and 56 from Dhaka South City Corporation.
During this period, 401 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals. As of September 4, the death toll from the dengue rose to 130 while the total dengue cases stand at 33,309 and recoveries at 31,631.
In 2024, a total of 101,214 people were infected with dengue, with 575 deaths reported. In 2023, dengue claimed 1,705 lives, with a record 321,179 hospitalisations, the deadliest year on record for dengue in Bangladesh.
Public health authorities continue to urge citizens to take preventive measures, including eliminating mosquito breeding grounds and seeking early treatment in case of symptoms.
