The confirmed death toll from the floods along the Nepal–China border has reached 750, while more than 3,000 people remain missing, according to official figures released Sunday.
Nepal’s disaster agency reported that fatalities in the country had climbed to 734, up from a previous total of 670. At least 2,498 people remain missing in Nepal, including 589 foreign nationals, reports CNN.
Chinese authorities earlier on Sunday confirmed 16 deaths in Tibet, with 546 people still unaccounted for. Among the missing are at least 261 foreigners, including 18 Americans.
The disaster, triggered by a glacial collapse last Wednesday, unleashed torrents of water and debris that swept through Himalayan valleys, devastating communities on both sides of the border.
