Bangladeshi film ‘Delupi’ will compete in the main section of the London Bridge Film Festival on 24 October, extending its international run after recent recognition at a film festival in the United States.

Director Mohammad Touqir Islam announced the screening on 20 October, saying no member of the film’s team would be able to attend. He urged Bangladeshis living in London to watch the film together and represent the country at the festival.

The screening follows actor Chiranjit Biswas’s Best Male Actor win at the Seattle-based Tasveer Film Festival for his performance in the film. Touqir accepted the award on Biswas’s behalf at the festival’s closing ceremony on 18 October.

Produced by Footprint Film Production, ‘Delupi’ draws on the aftermath of a river embankment collapse in Khulna and Bangladesh’s political turmoil in 2024. Local residents also appear in the film, which explores the impact of environmental disaster and political tensions on rural communities.

The film previously screened at international festivals, including the International Film Festival Rotterdam in the Netherlands and Karawan Film Fest in Italy.
