Jamaat-e-Islami has accused BNP, Bangabhaban and India of launching a cyber-attack to undermine the party’s popularity through a coordinated programme ahead of the national election.
The allegation was made by Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar at a public rally held at the Shimrail Truck Stand ground in Siddhirganj on Wednesday morning.
Parwar claimed that the cyber campaign is being carried out before the election, adding that accounts are being hacked using agents linked to Bangabhaban.
“As soon as posts are published, Chhatra Dal launches programmes at Dhaka University,” he alleged.
He also criticised BNP’s election promises, saying those who have governed the country for 54 years since independence will now be shown a “red card” by the people. He compared BNP’s pledge of “family cards” to deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s “Tk 10 rice” initiative.
He voiced concern over rumours circulating that voting for Daripalla, the electoral symbol of Jamaat, would turn the country into “West Pakistan,” and said that some party members have threatened that voters may face violence if they go to the polls.
He called for CCTV and body cameras at every polling centre and warned that strict action would be taken if miscreants create disorder.
Parwar pledged that if Jamaat forms the government under the leadership of Ameer Shafiqur Rahman, corruption would be eliminated, newborns would receive proper medical care, mothers would have access to health services, and farmers would get fair prices for their produce.
The rally was organised ahead of the 13th parliamentary election and was attended by central and local leaders, including Jamaat’s central executive committee and city Ameer Maulana Abdul Jabbar, central executive committee member Maulana Moinuddin Ahmed, district Ameer Mominul Haque Sarkar, Khelafat Majlis candidate Sirajul Mamun (Narayanganj-5), NCP candidate Abdullah Al Amin (Narayanganj-4), and Jamaat candidate Ilias Molla (Narayanganj-3).
Supporters joined the rally through several processions from different areas.
