A customer has been stabbed following an altercation at a restaurant owned by film actor Omar Sani in the Aurangabad area of Manikganj. A staff member of the establishment is alleged to have been involved in the incident.
The attack took place at around 8:00 pm on Friday, February 13, in Aurangabad under Sadar upazila. Khalilul Rahman Khan, uncle of the injured man Atiqur Rahman Khan, has filed a case with Manikganj Sadar Police Station. Six individuals have been named as accused, along with seven others who remain unidentified.
The accused named in the complaint are Md Imran (24), Md Likhon (22), Hasan (27), Jibon (25), Munna (22) and Manjur (26).
According to the case statement, Atiqur Rahman had gone to the Chapwala Shashurbari restaurant with four or five friends for a meal. They allegedly protested after witnessing the accused behaving inappropriately with some female customers. An argument followed, during which the accused reportedly attacked them with iron rods, hammers, chapatis, sharp knives, axes, shovels and bamboo sticks.
As tensions escalated, Atiqur and his companions ran towards the main road. The complaint states that Imran then struck Atiqur on the back with a sharp weapon. He was allegedly attacked again and fell onto the road. The statement further claims that cash from his pocket was taken during the assault.
Local traders rescued the injured men and took them to Manikganj Sadar Hospital. When Atiqur’s condition deteriorated, he was transferred to Manikganj Medical College Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.
The complainant, Khalilul Rahman Khan, alleged that individuals involved in criminal activities had been given shelter and protection at the restaurant. He claimed the attack was carried out in retaliation for his nephew’s protest and called for a thorough investigation and exemplary punishment for those responsible.
Restaurant owner Omar Sani said he was not present at the time of the incident. He stated that CCTV footage showed an employee named Likhon behaving inappropriately with a female customer. According to him, a dispute that began over dissatisfaction with naan bread escalated into a fight, which later spread outside the restaurant premises.
He stressed that the stabbing did not occur inside the restaurant and also called for appropriate action against those involved.
