Bangladesh’s law enforcement agencies have been widely praised for their neutral, professional, and responsible role in the 13th national parliamentary election and referendum, Home Adviser Mohammad Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said.
Speaking as the chief guest at a farewell reception held at the Police Headquarters’ “Hall of Integrity” on Monday, Jahangir Alam commended the Army, Police, RAB, Ansar, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and Coast Guard for their responsible and impartial role during the elections.
“The 13th parliamentary election and referendum will stand as a role model in Bangladesh’s electoral history and have earned recognition both nationally and internationally,” he said, extending his gratitude to all law enforcement personnel involved.
He noted that during a special cabinet meeting yesterday, the chief adviser praised law enforcement agencies for their responsible role in the national elections
Recalling the challenges faced by the police after 5 August, 2024, home adviser said, “Through collective efforts, the police have regained a highly respectable position. I am pleased with this progress and urge officers to continue working to further elevate this standing.”
He also emphasised the transparency of appointments within law enforcement agencies under the Home Ministry during the interim government, noting that no corruption or undue influence was involved – a rare achievement in Bangladesh’s history.
The event was attended by IGP Baharul Alam, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sheikh Mohammad Sazzat Ali, RAB (SIF) Director General AKM Shahidur Rahman, and other senior officials.
Earlier, the adviser also participated in farewell ceremonies organised by the Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard, Immigration and Passport Department, BGB, Department of Narcotics Control, and Bangladesh Ansar and VDP.
