A court has ordered the seizure of the income tax documents of Shafique Ahmed Siddique, former Dhaka University professor and husband of Sheikh Rehana, ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s sister, in connection with a corruption case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Sabbir Faiz passed the order on Tuesday following a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Bench Assistant of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court, Md Riaz Hossain, confirmed the matter.
In the ACC case, Shafique Ahmed Siddique is accused of acquiring assets worth Tk 8,65,41,060 beyond his known sources of income. Permission was sought to seize all income tax-related documents from the 2008-09 to 2024-25 tax years for the sake of investigation, which the court granted.
