Chinese company October4128 (BD) Ltd has announced a $19.72 million investment to establish a high-end garment manufacturing facility at the BEPZA Economic Zone (BEPZA EZ) in Mirsharai, Chattogram.
The project will create 2,788 job opportunities for local workers and will produce ski gear, winter coats, down jackets, rain gear, and other activewear products, BEPZA said on Thursday.
The factory is expected to manufacture 3 million pieces of apparel annually, catering to both domestic and international markets. This initiative will contribute to the local economy through job creation and skills development.
The investment agreement was signed on Thursday at the BEPZA Complex in Dhaka.
BEPZA Member Md Ashraful Kabir and October4128 (BD) Managing Director Mohammed Taufikul Ahsan signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.
BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain expressed appreciation for the company’s decision to invest in the BEPZA Economic Zone and assured full support for the smooth execution of the project.
With this new investment, the total investment in the BEPZA Economic Zone has reached around $1.08 billion, with 49 companies now committed to setting up operations in the zone.
So far, six companies have already commenced production, solidifying the zone’s position as one of the most attractive investment destinations in Bangladesh, BEPZA added.
