Chhatra Dal, a student wing of BNP, unveiled its quarterly magazine ‘Dal-Diposhikha’ on Thursday at the Student-Teacher Centre (TSC) auditorium of Dhaka University.
The event began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem.
Chhatra Dal Central Committee President Md Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir, along with other invited guests, officially launched the magazine.
In his speech, Rakib emphasised that the magazine features interviews with the families of several martyrs, including the father of Shaheed Abu Sayed, the sister of Shaheed Wasim, and the father of Shaheed Mughdir.
He also highlighted that the magazine provides an unbiased account of the July-August mass uprising and its formation.
Rakib also noted that Chhatra Dal’s organisational leader Tarique Rahman has instructed the party to focus on a new, campus-centered style of student politics, prioritising the involvement of both new and existing students.
As part of this initiative, the organisation has already formed committees in 1,700 educational institutions across the country.
Nasir Uddin Nasir, the general secretary and head of the magazine’s publication committee, explained that the initial plan was for Khaleda Zia, the former prime minister, to unveil the magazine’s cover.
However, due to her health condition and other complications, the plan had to be changed.
In his address, Nasir expressed concern over the post-election political situation, stating, “Anti-independence and anti-sovereignty forces still managed to secure significant votes, which underscores the need for Chhatra Dal’s unified efforts to expand Bangladesh’s nationalism.”
He also accused certain groups of spreading misleading information and attempting to form mobs, urging the party’s members to remain cautious on social media.
Chhatra Dal Senior Joint Secretary Shyamol Malum, Organisational Secretary Mohammad Amanullah Aman, and Literary and Publication Secretary Minhaj Ahmed Prince addressed the programme among others.
