Each voter is taking about two minutes to cast their ballot, as parliamentary voting and a referendum are being held together in the ongoing national election.
This picture emerged from two polling centres in the Chattogram-15 (Satkania-Lohagara) constituency after the election began at 7:30am on Thursday, based on conversations with voters, polling agents and presiding officers.
At the East Gatiadanga Habibul Ulum Islamia Dakhil Madrasah centre in Satkania, only 11 votes had been cast at one booth by 8am.
Polling agent Shahidul Islam said each voter was taking between one and a half to two minutes, while elderly voters required slightly more time.
The centre has around 1,800 voters and four booths. Voters have been present in front of the booths since the start of polling.
Presiding officer Mohammad Mohiuddin said voting was proceeding smoothly and no complaints had been received so far.
At another centre in the same area, East Demsha Alamgir Government Primary School, presiding officer Debashish Bhattacharjee said 40 votes had been cast at one booth by 8:30am.
He also noted that elderly voters were taking more time to complete the process.
The centre has a total of 3,820 voters across seven booths. By around 9:00am, the queue of voters had extended beyond the school ground onto the road.
