The Army has detained 13 BNP activists on charges of attempting to occupy two polling centres in Ashulia.
The detainees were handed over to the Ashulia police.
Around 12:30am, an Army patrol team raided the Nuton Nagar New Model School and College polling centre in Ward 5 of Dhamsona Union, arresting nine individuals.
The detainees have been identified as Abdur Rahman (42), Md Shahjahan Bepari (64), Mohammad Sarwar (52), Md Julhas Uddin (24), Md Suman (23), Md Sujan (20), Md Shahinur Islam (30), Md Suman (36), and Mohammad Nurul Islam (35). They are reportedly supporters of the BNP-nominated candidate, Dr Dewan Mohammad Salahuddin Babu.
In a separate operation, the Army raided the Nalam polling centre in Ward 9 of Dhamsona Union, detaining four more individuals: Md Montu Miah (35), Md Jewel Miah (36), Kabir Hossain (37), and Rakib Hossain (39).
Law enforcement officials confirmed that these individuals are also supporters of the same candidate.
SI Saimon Sheikh, Duty Officer of Ashulia Police Station, stated that the detainees were handed over to the station during the night.
They are currently in police custody, and necessary legal action will be taken after a verification process and instructions from higher authorities.
