The Parliamentary Committee on Estimates was constituted on Wednesday, taking the number of committees formed in the 13th National Parliament to 46.
BNP lawmaker Reza Kibria, MP from Habiganj-1, has been appointed chairman of the committee.
At the same time, two existing parliamentary committees – those dealing with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Religious Affairs – were reconstituted, with several changes made to their membership.
Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni proposed the formation of the Estimates Committee and the reconstitution of the two committees.
The House later approved the proposals through voice votes.
The Parliament has 50 parliamentary committees in total, comprising 39 standing committees on ministries and 11 committees dealing with specific subjects.
With Wednesday’s formation of the Estimates Committee, 46 of the 50 committees have now been constituted.
