A bus caught fire while parked on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in the Siddhirganj area of Narayanganj early Saturday morning, officials said.
The incident occurred around 6:30am near the Shimrail Roads and Highways Department (RHD office when flames suddenly engulfed the vehicle.
According to police, the driver had parked the minibus near the office around 10pm on Friday. Local residents spotted smoke and fire the next morning and immediately alerted the Fire Service. Firefighters, with help from locals, quickly brought the blaze under control.
The fire damaged seats, windows, and parts of the interior, but since the minibus was empty, no casualties were reported.
OC of Siddhirganj Police Station, Mohammad Shahinur Alam, said preliminary investigations indicate the fire could have been caused by mechanical faults or technical issues. The incident is currently under further investigation.
