Buddhist monks have launched a march from Cox’s Bazar towards Dhaka to spread messages of communal harmony and global peace.
The programme commenced on Friday afternoon, invoking peace and friendship amidst the crimson glow of the setting sun. The march, which began at Kalatali beach, crossed Sugandha and Laboni points before concluding at the city’s Central Shaheed Minar.
Each step symbolised the aspiration for a world without division and a yearning for global peace.
Principal of Ukhia Central Ananda Bhavan Buddhist Monastery Praggabodhi Mohathero and Coordinator of the Chattogram Shanti O Sampriti Parishad Charuottam Barua attended the inaugural phase.
On behalf of the organisers, they said, “This march has been organised with the aim of awakening world peace, communal harmony, and a sense of brotherhood among people.”
Around 40 individuals participated in the procession. The organisers remarked, “Let love and harmony be the best religion of mankind.”
After spreading the message of harmony through the streets of Chattogram on Saturday, the procession will reach Cumilla, on the banks of the Mainamati and Gomti, on Monday.
On the following Tuesday, the march will arrive in Dhaka, passing through Merul Badda, Gulshan, Hatirjheel, and Kawran Bazar, before concluding at the South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
