A five-day “Entrepreneur Development” training programme was inaugurated on 13 June 2026 through a joint initiative of the Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) Training Institute (BTI) and the Faculty of Business Studies of Begum Rokeya University (BRU), Rangpur. The opening ceremony was held in Room 201 of Academic Building-3 at the university.
The programme aims to develop entrepreneurial skills, innovation capacity and business competencies among students, contributing to sustainable development, job creation and economic growth, organisers said.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Principal of the BSCIC Training Institute Md Farhad Ahmed. Professor Mohammad Rafiqul Azam Khan, Head of the Department of Management Studies, attended as chief guest.
Special guests included Professor Md Nur Alam Siddik, Head of the Department of Finance and Banking, Professor Sheikh Majedul Haque of the Marketing Department, and Md Rakibul Hasan, Extension Officer of BSCIC District Office, Rangpur.
The course director of the programme is Md Tanzim Hossain, Associate Faculty Member at BSCIC Training Institute (BTI). Course coordinators include Miftahul Jannat Ripa, Assistant Faculty Member, and Md Jubayer Islam, Assistant Faculty Member of BTI.
Speakers at the event said that entrepreneurship development plays a vital role in ensuring sustainable economic growth, employment generation and broader economic progress in the current global context.
They added that by fostering entrepreneurial mindset, innovation and business skills among university students, a more capable and self-reliant young generation can be built. BSCIC has been implementing entrepreneurship development programmes across the country for a long period to support this goal.
The training programme will continue until 17 June 2026. Participants will receive practical and technical training on business planning, enterprise management, marketing strategies, financial management, leadership development and pathways to becoming successful entrepreneurs.
The initiative aims to promote an entrepreneurial culture among university students and expand opportunities for self-employment.
