National University (NU) has nearly doubled financial assistance for teachers engaged in MPhil and PhD research, Dhaka, 14 June 2026. The university has also assured financial and other necessary support for quality publications and book publishing for its own faculty members and teachers of affiliated colleges, said Vice-Chancellor Professor ASM Amanullah.

Highlighting strategies for quality research and academic writing, he said Bangladesh ranks at the bottom globally in terms of publications. Emphasising internationally accepted research methods, clear and accurate writing techniques, publication in reputed journals and improving research quality, he added that at least two research workshops should be organised every month at National University.

He made the remarks while inaugurating a day-long workshop titled “Methodology, Writing, Publication and Quality Improvement” held on Sunday at the Senate Hall of National University. The workshop was organised by the university’s Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and attended by teachers as well as MPhil and PhD researchers.

The opening session of the workshop was presided over by Acting Director of IQAC Dr Mohammad Abdul Rahman. Special guests included Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Md Lutfur Rahman and Treasurer Professor ATM Zafarul Azam of National University.

The keynote speakers at the workshop were Professor AI Mahbub Uddin Ahmed of the Department of Sociology at the University of Dhaka and M Khurshid Alam, Chairman of Bangladesh Institute of Social Research (BISR) Trust.

National University Registrar Molla Mahfuz Al-Hossain, deans of various faculties and directors of different departments were also present at the opening session.
