International Standard University (ISU) organised a day-long event titled ‘Da Fit and Fashion Fiesta-2026’ at its Mohakhali campus to promote students’ creativity and talent in fashion, apparel merchandising and textiles.

Organised by the ISU Merchandising Club under the Department of Apparel Merchandising and Management, the event featured a quiz competition on apparel, fashion, merchandising and textiles, fashion mood board presentations, and a fashion show and ramp walk.

ISU Vice-Chancellor Abdul Awal Khan attended the event as the chief guest, reads a press release. 

Treasurer HTM Quader Newaz was present as the special guest, while Md Abul Kashem, dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, attended as the guest of honour. 

Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Apparel Merchandising and Management Jaglul Hoque Mridha presided over the event.

Speaking at the event, Abul Kashem said the fashion show organised by the ISU Merchandising Club provided an important platform for students to showcase their creativity, confidence and talent. 

Appreciating the participants’ creativity and presentation skills, he said selecting the winners was challenging. He thanked the club for inviting him as a special guest and judge and congratulated all the participants.

Jaglul said initiatives such as fashion shows and quiz competitions help students develop creativity, knowledge and confidence while gaining practical insights into the textile and apparel industry.

He said the fashion show allowed students to showcase their designs and creativity, while the quiz competition enhanced their subject knowledge and ability to think spontaneously. Such initiatives would play an important role in preparing skilled, creative and confident graduates for the future textile and apparel industry, he added.

The first segment, ‘Threads and Trivia’, featured a quiz competition on apparel merchandising, fashion and textiles, with 54 students participating. Alifa Akter Asha secured first place, Adnan Mahmud came second, and Mst Mafiya Khanom Mitu secured third place. The winners received certificates.

The second segment, ‘Story on a Board’, featured students’ creative fashion mood board presentations. Jemi Jahan secured first place, Sizmi came second, and Umme Habiba secured third place.

The main attraction, ‘Echoes of Autumn Sky’, featured a fashion show and ramp walk involving 40 students. Muskan Hasan secured first place, Tanvir Ahmed came second, and Nidhi Teresa Gomez secured third place.

Afroza Haq Daizy, associate professor and head of the Department of Fashion Design and Technology at Shanto-Mariam University, served as the chief judge of the fashion show. The special judges were Assistant Professor Lina Jahangir and Assistant Professor Md Shohel Anwar, both from the same department, and Md Hasibul Hasan, lecturer in the Department of Textile Engineering at ISU.

Jahirul Islam Apon, managing director of Apon Good Food Limited, and Md Moniruzzaman Badsha, managing director of Fiat Fashion Limited, also attended as special guests.

The winners received cash prizes, gifts, crests and certificates.

The event was supported by RISE, Moments, Fiat Fashion Limited, Apon Good Food Limited, Sixth Seasons, One Lifestyle Bangladesh and Riva Orango.

According to the organisers, the event was not merely a celebration of fashion but also an effective platform for developing students’ creativity, confidence, presentation skills and talent. It also helped bridge academic learning with the fashion and apparel industry, providing students with an opportunity to showcase their capabilities.
