A man allegedly beat his younger brother to death following an argument over an electricity bill transaction in Lakshmipur’s Ramganj upazila.
The victim was identified as Alamgir Hossain, while the accused elder brother is Khorshed Alam. The incident occurred Saturday night in Uttar Badarpur area of Korpara Union No. 8.
Local sources said the brothers quarreled over a Tk5 electricity bill payment. The dispute escalated, and later at a nearby tea stall, Khorshed, along with several others, allegedly assaulted Alamgir.
Alamgir sustained serious injuries and was taken to Ramganj Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.
Additional Superintendent of Police Hossain Mohammad Raihan Kazemi said the body has been sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy. Preparations are underway to file a murder case, and operations to arrest those involved are ongoing, he added.
