BOU hosts strategic training to boost HR administration

Bangladesh Open University (BOU) organised a day-long training programme on “Strategic Human Resource Management and Office Administration” at the BOU Teachers Conference Hall on Tuesday, 9 June 2026, under the initiative of its Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), said a press release. The programme aimed to strengthen the skills and administrative capacity of university officials and ran from 9:00 am, covering topics essential for modern institutional management.
Professor Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of BOU, attended the inaugural session as the chief guest. He said that in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, artificial intelligence, and technology-driven change, obtaining a degree alone is insufficient. Regular skill development, self-improvement, and acquisition of new knowledge are essential to remain competitive in the workplace, said Khan. He added that such training enhances leadership, communication, and service quality, while the success of an institution depends on the competence, integrity, and professional commitment of officials and staff.
Professor Mohammad Zahid Raihan, Director of IQAC, presided over the session, emphasising that strategic human resource management and effective office administration are critical for institutional quality improvement. T M Ahmed Husein, Registrar (In-Charge), also addressed the participants. Resource persons included Professor Mohammad Zahid Raihan from the School of Business and Professor Md Shahidul Islam Fakir from the Department of Management, Jagannath University, who discussed human resource management, labour relations, strategic HR renewal, conflict resolution, database management, modern office administration, professionalism, and communication skills for officials.
At the closing session, Mohammad Zakir Hossain Talukdar, Additional Director of IQAC, thanked participants. Professor Saima Ahmed, Additional Director of IQAC, School of Social Sciences, Humanities, and Languages, conducted the programme. A total of 41 officials, including joint directors, deputy directors, and equivalent-ranking staff from various university departments, took part, said the press release.
