The bodies of four expatriate brothers from Rangunia, Chattogram, recovered from inside a car in Oman, have been brought back home.
The remains of the four reached Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka around 9pm on Tuesday.
Their namaz‑e‑janaza was held around 11am Wednesday at Lalanagar High School grounds, after which they were buried side by side at the family graveyard near Bandarajar Para Jame Mosque.
Chattogram-7 Member of Parliament Hummam Quader Chowdhury received the bodies at the airport. The coffins were then transported by road to Rangunia. The bodies arrived at the family home early Wednesday morning.
On 13 May, the bodies of the four brothers — Md Rashed, Md Shahed, Md Siraj, and Md Shahid — were recovered from a car in Muladdah, Oman. Royal Oman Police suspect that the four died from inhaling carbon monoxide gas emitted from the car’s air conditioning exhaust while the vehicle was running.
MP Hummam said, “From the government’s side, some financial assistance has been provided immediately to the family of the expatriates for burial and transport costs.”
