Bobby Hajjaj, chairman of the Nationalist Democratic Movement (NDM) and BNP-endorsed candidate, submitted his nomination for the Dhaka-13 constituency.
He filed his papers at the Election Training Institute in Agargaon on Monday, the last day for submissions, before Returning Officer Md Yunus Ali.
Hajjaj told reporters, “We are hopeful the upcoming election will be conducted fairly and smoothly. The EC will carry out its duties properly.”
Contestants in Dhaka-13 include Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Md Mobarak Hossain, NCP’s Md Akram Hossain, Islami Andolan Bangladesh’s Md Murad Hossain, JSD’s Nek Mohammad, Nagorik Oikko’s Md Mahbubur Rahman, independent BNP candidates Kayes Mahmud and Md Kamruzzaman Jewel, Ganomukti Jote’s Shahriar Iftekhar, Bangladesh Republican Party’s Md Ashraful Islam, BJP’s Sohel Rana, and independent Sheikh Md Rabiul Islam.
According to the revised election schedule, the scrutiny of nomination papers will run from 30 December to 4 January 2026.
Appeals against Returning Officer decisions can be filed from 5 to 9 January, with disposal from 10 to 18 January. Candidate withdrawals end on 20 January, and the final list with symbols will be announced on 21 January. Campaigning begins 22 January and ends at 7.30am on 10 February. Voting is scheduled for 12 February.
