A three-day poster exhibition based on the Liberation War has begun under the initiative of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).
The exhibition began on Monday and will continue until Wednesday, 2025, according to a press release.
The exhibition was inaugurated in the morning at the Gulshan Nagar Bhaban by DNCC Administrator Mohammad Ejaz. Speaking at the inauguration, DNCC administrator said December is the month of victory and the month of the country’s birth, noting that it was in this month that Bangladesh gained an independent map on which its dreams could be built.
He said various narratives about the history of the Liberation War have emerged at different times, but to truly understand the political and military struggle of that period, it is essential to closely observe the posters that once covered the walls.
He added visitors to the Nagar Bhaban would be able to view these historic posters, recalling the impact of wall writings and posters in July in bringing down a fascist regime, and saying that in a similar way, posters during the Liberation War inspired courage among freedom fighters and the people.
The exhibition will remain open to the public every day from 9am to 6pm. It features various historic posters from the Liberation War, highlighting the struggle, spirit and inspiration of the time for the new generation.
Among others present at the event were DNCC Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Asaduzzaman, Chief Engineer Brigadier General Md Moin Uddin, Chief Health Officer Brigadier General Imrul-Al-Quais Chowdhury, and other DNCC officials.
