Bangladesh Under-19 continued their perfect run in the Game Development Trophy with a 115-run victory over the Under-17 side at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday.
Batting first after losing the toss, the Under-19s posted 286 for seven in 50 overs. Openers Abdullah Al Muhi and Kawsar Ahmed provided the platform with a 115-run partnership, with both batters completing half-centuries.
Muhib Jagirdar broke the stand by dismissing Muhi for 59 off 52 balls. Kawsar then went on to make 65 from 74 deliveries before Majedul removed him. Contributions from the lower order helped the Under-19s reach a strong total of 286 for seven.
Majedul was the most successful Under-17 bowler with three wickets, while Likhon, Muhib, Iftekhar and Imran Bhuiyan took one each.
The Under-17s began their chase steadily, with Nur E Alam and Abdullah Hil Galib adding 44 runs during the powerplay. Meherab Hossain Sizan ended the partnership by dismissing Nur E Alam for 13.
Captain Lorenz Roy tried to keep the innings together and scored a half-century, but the Under-17s lost wickets regularly after his dismissal.
All-rounder Sujon offered some resistance with 44 from 77 balls, but he was dismissed in the 49th over. The Under-17s were eventually bowled out for 171 in 50 overs.
Rakibul Hasan Rusafi was the leading wicket-taker for the Under-19s with three wickets. Shakil Khan and Rabiul Hasan Anik claimed two each, while Rubai Islam Jibon and Sizan took one apiece.
The victory gave the Under-19s their third win in three matches and kept them at the top of the points table. The Under-17s, meanwhile, remain third after suffering their third consecutive defeat.
