The BNP has withdrawn the expulsion orders against 56 leaders and activists, reinstating their primary memberships after reviewing their appeals. Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the decision in a statement issued around 8:30pm on Thursday.
These grassroots leaders had earlier been expelled from all party positions for allegedly violating party discipline and engaging in activities deemed contrary to the BNP’s policies and ideals. The party revoked those orders following a fresh review of their petitions.
The reinstated individuals include former office bearers from district, upazila, municipality and union-level BNP units, alongside leaders of associated bodies such as Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, Krishak Dal, Sramik Dal and Mohila Dal across Jhalokathi, Barguna, Tangail, Munshiganj, Cumilla, Faridpur, Brahmanbaria, Rajshahi, Natore, Sherpur, Habiganj, Sunamganj, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Rangamati, Gazipur, Sylhet, Patuakhali and Bhola.
The party also reinstated the primary memberships of Shahjada, former general secretary of Amragachhia Union BNP in Patuakhali, and Asad Matubber, former member of Saltha Upazila BNP in Faridpur, both of whom had been suspended or expelled on similar charges. The orders were withdrawn following their respective appeals.
A full list of the reinstated leaders was included in the BNP’s official statement.
