A Bangladeshi man from Nangalkot upazila of Cumilla was reportedly killed in a missile attack attributed to Yemen’s Houthi rebels at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, while travelling to perform Umrah.

The deceased was Md Nasrullah Badarpuri, 45, the eldest son of Hafez Mahmudullah of Badarpur village in Dhalua Union of the upazila.

The incident reportedly took place on Saturday at the airport in the Saudi capital.

According to the information provided, 12 people were killed and at least 309 injured in the attack after an aircraft landed at the airport early Saturday.

Among the dead were four Saudi nationals, two Bangladeshis and one citizen each from the United States, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Sudan and Egypt.

Mohammed al-Bukhaiti, a senior Houthi official, claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was carried out in retaliation for Saudi-led coalition strikes in Yemen.
