BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman will tour nine districts in the northern region of the country for four days. Ahead of the tour, BNP has sent a letter to the government seeking security for Tarique Rahman.
His visit will begin on 11 January and conclude on 14 January.
BNP chairperson’s office shared this information issuing a press release on Wednesday. During the four-day tour, Tarique Rahman will visit the graves of those killed in the July uprising and martyrs of the long democratic movement, and he will attend a prayer for BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.
According to the release, on the first day of the tour, 11 January, after completing programmes in Dhaka, Tarique Rahman will exchange views with party leaders and activists in Gazipur, Tangail, and Sirajganj. Later, he will arrive in Bogura.
On 12 January, starting from Bogura, he will take part in organisational programmes in Rangpur, Dinajpur, and Thakurgaon districts. On the same day in Rangpur, he will pay tribute at the grave of Abu Sayeed, who was killed in the July–August mass uprising, and join a prayer programme there.
On 13 January, he will hold meetings and exchange views with party leaders and activists in Panchagarh, Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat, and Kurigram districts.
On the final day of his tour, 14 January, Tarique is scheduled to attend several more programmes in Rangpur and Bogura before returning to Dhaka.
During the northern region tour, he will visit the graves of Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani, July martyr Abu Sayed, and Taiyaba Mojumdar, along with other July fighters and martyrs of the democratic movement. It has also been reported that he will pay courtesy visits to their families.
