The post-mortem of BNP leader and general secretary of Hazratpur Union unit, Hasan Molla, who was shot dead by assailants in Keraniganj, has been completed.
Dipika Roy, a lecturer at the Department of Forensic Medicine, conducted the examination at Dhaka Medical College morgue on Sunday at 11am.
Molla had died on Saturday evening at a private hospital in Dhaka while undergoing treatment for gunshot wounds.
Keraniganj Model Police Station Sub-Inspector Abu Hannan prepared the initial injury report. He noted that the bullet entered Molla’s right abdomen and exited through his back.
No other abnormalities were recorded on his body.
Molla’s younger brother, Rakib Hossain, said the BNP leader was shot near his own house in Dhalikandi, Keraniganj, around 9.30pm on Thursday.
Molla had been returning home from a religious gathering with another person when attackers on a motorcycle targeted him.
Rakib said, “We were unaware of any enemies of my brother. He had no political rival in the area. All current political actors here belong to the same panel. Members of the Awami League involved are now absconding.”
The family denied the attack was a robbery, though they have no clear idea who was behind it.
Rakib said a case will be filed following Molla’s burial on Sunday.
