Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) acting chairman Tarique Rahman has remarked that the cooperation of ethnic groups is necessary to build a safe Bangladesh. He stated, “BNP is committed to building an inclusive and safe Bangladesh with all ethnic groups.”
He said, “Bangladesh does not belong only to Bengalis, but to all ethnic groups residing legally. To protect the rights of everyone in the hills or plains, BNP has ensured the participation of ethnic groups in every committee.”
He made these comments while joining virtually from London at the national representative assembly of the Jatiyatabadi Khudra Jatigashthi, held on Saturday afternoon at the Tarek Smriti Auditorium in Mymensingh Town Hall.
He further added, “If BNP comes to power, initiatives will be taken to facilitate access to government jobs for small ethnic groups. Additionally, the announced 31-point framework for the development of hilly and plain regions will be implemented.”
“BNP’s 31-point state repair plan clearly states that maximum efforts will be made to ensure the social, political, cultural, and economic rights and life security of all ethnic groups, regardless of race, religion, or caste. This is our commitment to ethnic groups,” he added.
He informed that if given the responsibility to run the state through the people’s verdict, the recruitment process in government jobs for ethnic communities will be simplified.
The assembly was presided over by the Central President of Jatiyatabadi Khudra Jatigashthi, Mrigen Hagidger. Various BNP leaders and members were present at the event.
Among them were BNP Chairperson’s Advisor Bijan Kanti Sarkar, Joint Secretary General Syed Emran Saleh Prince, Divisional Organizing Secretary Shariful Alam, Co-Organizing Secretary Abu Wahab Akand, Convener of the Southern District BNP Zakir Hossain Bablu, and many others.
Before the assembly, the event was inaugurated with the national anthem at the Tarek Smriti Auditorium in the Town Hall. At the beginning of the event, indigenous young women performed traditional dances. After the assembly, on behalf of chief guest Tarique Rahman, 26 sewing machines were distributed among women of various ethnic groups.
Additionally, representatives of ethnic groups from 12 plain regions of the country participated in the assembly, and they also presented cultural performances.
