Bangladesh’s bowlers, led by Taskin Ahmed’s four-wicket haul, restricted the Netherlands to 136 for 8 in their 20 overs in Sylhet on 30 August 2025.

Earlier, Bangladesh captain Litton Das won the toss at 17:30 and chose to field first. The home side made five changes from their previous T20 international against Pakistan on 24 July. Parvez Hossain, Saif Hassan, Towhid Hridoy, Rishad Hossain and Mustafizur Rahman came into the XI, while Mohammad Naim, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Shamim Hossain, Mohammad Saifuddin and Nasum Ahmed missed out.

The Netherlands began cautiously after being sent in. Off-spinner Mahedi Hasan conceded only three in the opening over, but Max O’Dowd counter-attacked in the second, striking three boundaries off Shariful Islam. The Dutch reached 16 without loss after two overs. Taskin Ahmed was introduced in the fourth over and struck immediately, removing O’Dowd for 23 off 15, caught by Jaker Ali.

In the eighth over, Taskin again dismissed a Dutch opener with his first ball, this time Vikramjit Singh (4 off 11), caught at long-on. Nidamanuru tried to counter with a six and four off Taskin in the same over, but the momentum was short-lived. The Netherlands were 49 for 2 after eight.

Rishad Hossain’s introduction in the ninth over proved expensive as Edwards took ten runs off him, yet the Dutch captain soon fell to Saif Hassan. Returning to the national side after almost two years, Saif struck twice in his first over, removing Edwards (12 off 7) and Nidamanuru (26 off 26). At 68 for 4 after ten overs, the visitors were under pressure.

The middle order struggled to rebuild. Mustafizur Rahman removed Shariz Ahmed for 15 in the fifteenth over, Jaker Ali completing his third catch of the innings. That dismissal gave Mustafiz his 140th T20 international wicket, placing him fifth on the all-time list. Taskin then returned in the 16th and 18th overs, dismissing Kyle Klein (9 off 12) and Noah Croes (11 off 13), completing a superb four-wicket performance.

Despite some resistance, the Dutch innings never recovered. Shoriful Islam bowled a maiden over in the fifth and finished with 12 runs conceded in the final over. A run-out from the last delivery left the Netherlands on 136 for 8.

Taskin Ahmed led the attack brilliantly, finishing with figures of 4 for 28 from his four overs. Mustafizur Rahman was equally economical, conceding only 19 runs in his full quota of four overs while picking up a wicket. Saif Hassan chipped in with two wickets during his spell, while Shoriful Islam kept things tight despite going wicketless, giving away 25 runs in four overs that included a maiden.
