Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) issued a high alert along the Lalmonirhat border to prevent illegal infiltration following the West Bengal elections and to curb cattle smuggling ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha.

Commanding Officer of Lalmonirhat Battalion (15 BGB) Lt Col Mehedi Imam confirmed the matter in a press release on Saturday.

According to the BGB, special surveillance is being conducted to stop any form of illegal infiltration through the border in the post-election context of West Bengal. Simultaneously, BGB members have taken a strict stance against cattle smuggling and drug trafficking ahead of the sacrificial festival.

To avoid any untoward incidents at the frontier, patrolling has been intensified, and public announcements are being made via loudspeakers in border areas to keep locals vigilant.
