The Bangladesh Cricket Board has set the player categories and pay structure for the Women’s BPL as preparations continue for the new tournament.

The board has already confirmed that the Women’s BPL will run from April 4 to April 14 with three teams taking part. Matches will be played at the Sher e Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur and the Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Motiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram.

The players draft will be held on March 14. Three national team players will be listed as icon players and they will lead the three sides. Each icon player can earn up to Tk 10 lakh.

Six players will be placed in the A category. Each team must sign two cricketers from this group. Players in this level will receive Tk 7 lakh each. The B category will include 15 players and each of them will get Tk 5 lakh.

The C category players will earn Tk 3 lakh. The D category players will earn Tk 1.5 lakh.

Teams can also sign overseas players before the draft if they want. Foreign players may also be added to the draft list based on interest and availability.

The board has also planned a pay scale for overseas cricketers. Foreign players in the top category can receive USD 8,000 US. The next level is set at USD 6,000. The third level stands at USD 3,000.

With the dates, venues, and player payments now clear, the Women’s BPL moves another step closer to its opening season. The event is expected to give local women cricketers more chances to play competitive matches and help grow the women’s game in Bangladesh.
